A new Direct Contracting option is an opportunity for Medicaid managed care organizations to utilize new care management tools and leverage existing expertise in managing care for dual-eligible beneficiaries to improve outcomes and share in Medicare financial savings. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services introduced this option in December 2020, to take effect in January 2022.
